The basic principles of CBT are participation, development, strengthening local institute and socially and environmentally responsible experience. The assets of CBT are the unique culture, natural resources, natural environment, bio-diversity, events, use of resources, rotational agriculture, traditional skill and knowledge and community empowerment that are gathered or generated by community itself.
There are many hill-tribe villages are scattering around Mae Hong Son area. Some of the villages now organizing the CBT Community Based Tourism. It means that tourists are welcome to spend some day and night within the village that is hosted by hill-tribe family. Also to participate the activity, cultural and way of life.
